Just when you thought the Joe was dead, he makes a comeback!!!

I've been busy with work and filming, and work, and sleep, and filming, and dubbing, and editing, and work, and more editing, and scouting, and planning, and more editing, and more dubbing, and more filming, and then some more editing, dubbing, scouting, planning, and scheduling.

The end result will make its premiere on one of the weekends of the month of Decemeber. The official date has not yet been set, but it is due for a December release.

We are all very excited for this, as it will be our first successfuly completed full length feature film. As the date gets closer, I will tell everyone that I think would be interested, and some who are not, the details. Until I decide to grace the fields of elowel again, fare thee all well...

"Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky;
now that spring is in the air,
pretty girls are every where;
think of me and I'll be there.

We had joy, we had fun,
we had seasons in the sun;
but the hills that we climb
were just seasons out of time."

What I Believe
Joe Harris

Religion is a hot topic in today’s society. Before I begin, I would like to say that I am accepting of all different religious views, and I do not think one religion is more truthful/important/viable than another. What with it being the “Christmas Season” and all right now, I am often confronted about my religious beliefs. Many people are surprised to learn that I am not a Christian, and I do not believe in Jesus. There are those who bash me, and preach to me upon their learning of this. Occasionally, however, there are those who ask me what I believe.

What do I believe? For a long while now, I have been a self proclaimed agnostic. I still believe there is much that we as humans are unable to fully comprehend about the complexities of the various philosophical and theological views on the nature of God. However, I have come to a conclusion that is based both in world theologies and logic. Although my views are generally cast aside as far too vague, and far too simple, I hold fast to them, because for the first time in my life, I have found a form of spirituality that I am able to fully embrace independently. By this I mean that I have used no sources other than my own contemplation of things to reach my conclusion.

Is there a higher power? Of course there is a higher power. Regardless of what you personally believe, you believe in a higher power. Whether that higher power is that of God, fate, free will, science, multiple gods, luck, or the power of your own mind, there is always a higher power working for you. Which is the correct higher power? That depends on who you ask. Every religion has its own belief on what the correct answer to that question is.

If there are so many different religions, and so many different beliefs, how does one determine which is correct? It is my belief that, because of the countless number of variations on religion throughout the world, that no one religion has a monopoly on religious truth. I think that there are bits and pieces of this truth to be found in every religion out there, and that is ultimately what unites them all in the end.

So where do I stand? I stand in the place that some would call idealistic and fantastical. In other words, I am everywhere. As I stated earlier, there is a higher power at work. When this higher power created the universe, he/she/it/they did so, and then stepped back, and since then, have been simply observing everything, much like you or I watching a movie that we had made. When this higher power had created the universe, he/she/it/they said to all living things, everywhere in the universe, something to the effect of what follows.

“Look, I/We exist. I/We have made you. I/We do not care how you go about worshipping me/us. I/We do not care what you wish to call me/us. I/We do not care if you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, Wiccan, Humanist, Deist, Druidic, Shinto, Taoist, whatever. All that is truly important is that, no matter which method you take, you are able to find a sense of purpose and meaning in your life. If you are able to discover who you are, and why you exist in the universe, then you have done what I/we wanted you to do.”

It is my belief that religion is essentially a guideline to what is expected from you, and what you are meant to accomplish in your life. Religion in and of itself is a way of being able to say to yourself: “THIS is who I am, and THIS is why I am alive.” If you accomplish this, you have experienced enlightenment, spirituality, purpose. In this respect, all religions are able to produce this exact same result. For those who feel that religion is not a good way to describe what they believe, allow me to rephrase. In this respect, all philosophies on life are able to produce this same result. At the end of the road that is life, we are rewarded with this feeling of accomplishment, for only then have we found our meaning - our purpose. When all paths lead to the same destination, it does not matter which one you take; it only matters that you stay on the path, and push on until you reach the end of the road.

In the Beginning... 12-06-04 17:16
Hi there all. It's been a while. Busy with school and such. Just wanted to stop by, and promote a new film that I am currently in the beginning stages of. I wanted to offer an opportunity for anyone who is in the Omaha area to participate in this.

I am making a film that some would say is insulting. I would say it isn't. Essentially it is this. I am making a parody of the book of Genesis, as a part of a much larger film series, which spans, you guessed it...the other books of the Bible. Now those of you who were interested before, and are now thoroughly disgusted, wait one moment. My film is not degrading to the religious types.

When we decided to begin work on this "Bizible" series, we intended it only as a way of parodying the most popular book ever. I think of it much along the same lines as any film that pardoies something. I took a book that so many people have one set way of looking at it, or really one idea of what it was that prompted these stories to begin with. My film will take on these beliefs, and show some of the alternative situations that could have resulted in the creation of this book that so many hold dear. I intend to provide the comic relief that the Bible lacks.

By creating a world where God is merely just a player in his own game, I will have presented a new look at the same old material. For example, what if God merely created the heavens so that he could send his son Jesus to play with his angel friends there, leaving himself with a peaceful working environment to create the universe. Or what if God has his own narrator that he doesn't remember creating that narrates the Bizible stories for him? What if God sits at a big office Desk and looks through a window of glass on his desk to keep watch over his creations? It's situations like these that lead to the creation of these films.

Anyone offended by it must be asked whether or not they get offended when Weird Al makes a parody of a song they hold near and dear to their heart. They must be asked if Mel Brooks offends them when he parodied the Ten Commandments scene in History of the World Part I. These films are once again, not an insult to religion, religious people, or the Bible. They are simply another perspective on the reasoning behind what it is this book. So please, don't be offended.

Unfortunately, there are so many people that will still never see things the way that we, as filmmakers, do. I will never, however, apologize for making a parody. They say that mockery is the greatest form of flattery. I stand by that, and by my film.

Anyone interested in helping out with this project, please leave a message here, or IM me at Joeboe1984 I have a lot of positions to fill, and will need people that really want to be involved in order to make this as good as it can be.

Anyone interested can view the first scene and part of the second at:

Spring 2005 11-17-04 21:40
My tentative schedule for the Spring Semester. I'm so relieved now that I've decided to take a step back, and figure out if Music is truly where I want to be. I wanted to take some poli sci classes, but decided against it, since there were none that fit when I needed them too. I'm seriously debating going into Film stuff, so I can do editing, but I don't yet know how to go about doing that, since UN-Omaha has no film program. Oh well, I'll figure that out as time goes on. Anyway...
